We spent 20 hours testing analog-to-HDMI converters and the Cingk Mini Video Converter is the best to connect your old VCR or game console to a new HDTV.
After 20 hours of research and testing we found the Cingk Mini Video Converter to be the best inexpensive choice for most people wanting to connect older video gear to new TVs. The Cingk takes the composite video signal (the single yellow cable) from, say, a VCR or Nintendo Wii, and converts it to HDMI so you can connect the older gear to your new TV.
We like the Cingk because it’s small and easy to set up. Just plug the composite cables into the inputs, an HDMI cable into the output and your TV, choose either 1080p or 720p (depending on your TV’s resolution), and tuck it somewhere it won’t be seen. However, you should get this only if your TV doesn’t have a composite input already. In our tests, our TV’s internal converter/scaler provided slightly better performance.
